Tuition :: Billing :: Books
Tuition is $25 per lesson, paid monthly according to the number of lessons in each month.
Your first month's tuition, along with the materials fee, will be due at the time of your first lesson. Monthly billing statements are given at the last lesson of each month and tuition is due the first lesson of each month. A fee of $5 is added to late payments.
Summer lessons are encouraged; information about a summer schedule will be given to currently enrolled students mid-spring.
A 15% monthly discount is given to families with 2 or more children enrolled in the studio.
The number of required books is minimal, but each student will need a set of books for use at lesson and practice. Costs range from $18-$22 depending on level. My preferred methods are Faber's “Piano Adventures” and Alfred's Basic Piano Course.
One way I try to keep your costs down and still provide music that motivates students is by allowing them to borrow music from my “lending library.” Students are able to enjoy a variety of styles and composers that supplement the pieces in their method books.
Missed Lessons
Please consider your weekly lesson as an appointment which must be kept, or, if necessary, canceled ahead of time. If you must cancel a lesson, please notify me by phone as soon as possible and ask to reschedule the lesson.
If it is not possible for you to reschedule, or our schedules do not allow a rescheduling opportunity, up to 2 credits per year (August-May) will be given.
If I do not receive prior notice of a lesson cancellation, I will not be able to give you a credit or reschedule the lesson.
If ever I am unable to keep a scheduled lesson, I will arrange a make-up or credit.
Home Environment
While I do not expect your home life to shut down during scheduled lessons, learning will best take place if at least the the room where the piano is located is kept quiet and free from distraction and foot-traffic.
An acoustic piano is preferred, but I will not turn away a genuinely interested student if one is not available. If you have a digital piano or keyboard, it should have a full 88 keys and a pedal. One also having touch-sensitive and/or weighted-action keys will aid in practice and performance but is not required to begin lessons.
Parents are not required to sit in on the lesson, but if the student is under 10 years of age, or there is a sibling(s) under 12 years old at home during the lesson, I ask that a parent be in the home for the duration of the lesson.
A parent is welcome to sit in as an observer; questions or comments should please be reserved for the beginning or end of the lesson period.
